Project description

Over the last few decades, various technologies have been developed for communication between
remote devices, enabling the development of multiple ICT applications in all types of
sectors. Today, most IoT devices use conventional networks.
GSM or 3G to send its data to a remote server, where it is processed and valorised.
The supply of devices using UNB technologies is very limited, which means that the development of

Sigfox is the first company to deploy a UNB telecommunications network. As a result
is experiencing rapid growth and already provides coverage throughout the country.

This project aims primarily to:

– To research and acquire knowledge about Sigfox technology and integrate it into the
products further developed by ENCORE.
– Develop a low-power, general-purpose datalogger module.
using UNB technology with the following characteristics:

  • 5 years of autonomy.
  • On/off modulated consumption.
  • Remote configuration.
  • Anti-theft system.

– Verify that the specifications given by Sigfox correspond to the reality of
stations; in particular, signal range, robustness of communication and autonomy
energetic.
– Position ENCORE as one of the first UNB integrators in the market.

Reply from Encore-Lab

Although Encore-Lab will participate in all the tasks of the project, it will be responsible for the design, development and certification of the product, i.e. it will have a greater weight in the tasks:

  • Design and development of boards and prototypes.
  • Microcontroller software development: Sigfox communications programming and web development.

Results

At the end of this activity, Encore Lab will have at its disposal:

  • Schematic diagram of the backplane of the data acquisition module.
  • Diagram of the circuits that make up the PCB.
  • Plates printed according to the designs made
  • First prototypes of the complete module
