SEIZSAFE: Patient-auto adaptive system for detection, recording and alert to caregivers of nighttime seizures, linked to private cloud platform for patient tracking and big data exploitation
The purpose of this project is to develop a system that monitors the patients during nighttime and alerts their caregivers/relatives when a seizure is detected. So, the patients will be assisted on time, minimizing this way the risks of the seizures, and the caregivers will be able to rest peacefully since the system will wake them up when a seizure starts. The new products envisaged aim to overcome the main drawbacks of the current systems in terms of reliability, accuracy and price in order to offer a solution that fit to user needs. Additionally the system will allow to share (under patient authorization) different kinds of seizure information to help doctors to prescribe and also for medical research purposes. The first prototype was developed using Arduino, and the second using Raspberry. At the moment Encore Lab is looking for financing in order to be able to develop the commercial solution.
